Signarama franchise Q & A with Matt Fitzpatrick


Matt Fitzpatrick, Brand Leader took a few minutes to talk us through some key details about the Signarama brand in the Australian market.

What is your business?

"Signarama Australia.

We franchise sign businesses, help people get into business to build signs.

What do you love about the business and what you do?

I love helping people actually build and grow a successful business.

I think franchising is an incredible industry for just that growth opportunity to leverage a system and create something that's yours.

What do you look for in the right-fit person to be a franchise owner?

Our ideal franchisee is an entrepreneurial person. We're looking for somebody who has that true entrepreneurial spirit, who wants to take a system and a base that we have, but make it their own and create something that's driven to build and reward their business, their family, their why.

Create something that really services their ‘why’.

What would you like people to know about your franchise offer?

I think one of the great things about our franchise offer is it's a turnkey solution.

So, the dollars that we charge gives you everything you need to start and run your business.

And essentially what we set you up with can do 70% of the business that will come through your door, and the relationships we have to do the other 30% to outsource.

So it is a true turnkey solution business.

What’s a common misconception you believe people have about your brand or niche?

One of the real misconceptions is that they have to have signage or graphics experience to start in this business.

And it's so untrue.

In actual fact, only 3% of our franchisees have ever had any sort of signage experience.

And our best franchisees are people who had zero signage experience.

So, to come in and actually use the system and the process that we have, to build a side business as opposed to preconceived ideas is an ideal situation.

Advice for people looking to get into their own business?

Probably the biggest thing is that you need to be able to get out and network and build your business.

The best business comes from proactive networking as opposed to sitting in a shop and waiting for people to come to you.

That's the low hanging fruit, the real opportunity is when you can get out. If you feel comfortable getting out and really building a business, that's where the gold is.

Key focus next 12-18 months?

That's a really interesting question because we're really looking at that at the moment.

So what is the future of Signage and what's the future of Signarama?

Digital signage is the big talking point for us, so how do we present and get ourselves positioned to really strike well within the digital marketing space?

That's the big thing for us."
